Why Do We Do Puja and Perform Rituals?

The English words for "Puja" include "honor," "reverence," "worship," and "respect." The Puja system has to do with religion and God. While some religions have intricate Puja ceremony systems, others just have simple prayer practices.

Puja or pooja in Hinduism is fundamentally a ritual or traditional worship in which offerings are offered to the Divine in a sincere effort to win his love and blessings. Although on the surface it may appear to be a routine procedure, it truly has profound meaning. The act of puja is the symbolic offering of one's entire mind, body, ideas, desires, actions, and belongings to the Creator as a sign of dedication and obedience.
